I. Love. This. Dog.

Abby watching Phyllis come in to the world

I was taking a walk, pushing the stroller out to the pasture to take some photos of the growing lambs.  This is what we happened upon… Bernadette had just finished lambing and Phyllis entered the world.  Abby had taken her responsibility very seriously and watched and waited about ten feet away.  She would lay down and carefully look away from the bonding ewe and lamb, so as not to make them worry.  As I took pictures and then moved on, Abby remained.

Then I heard a deep bark and turned to see one of our horses approaching with too much curiosity so I came running back over.  Abby then realized that I agreed with her and that the intruder must be escorted away, suddenly she came alive and jumped up barking ferociously!  She completely deterred the horse and I praised her up!  What a good girl!

I am so impressed… I know I am always saying that and suddenly this blog is turning into a brag spot for my LGD, Abigail.  But she deserves it.

  1. I’m impressed, too! What a great dog.

  2. I love that dog, too, and love hearing the stories as he grows and takes on his responsibilities. It is simply marvelous!
