Sunday Stills — Flowers & Plants; Lupine
For this week’s challenge over at Sunday Stills, Ed gave us yet another subject that I love — Flowers & Plants.
I have a favorite patch of Lupine that grows near by at our local lake. I found the patch last May and went to check and see if the flowers were blooming yet, especially with all the hot weather we’d been having the week before.
Fortunately for us here in Northern California, we’ve been getting some rain and it let up enough for me to take photos of my patch of lupine leaving beautiful little diamonds on their leaves.
Though my patch isn’t quite in full bloom yet, I plan to go back for more photos this coming week hopefully in the morning when the light starts to filter through the trees.
Taking my daughter with me to look at the pretty flowers is always fun as everything is so new in her eyes. Of course, like any little girl, she wants to pick them too…
It is a flower’s fate, to be grasped by a little girl’s hands.
Isn’t it interesting how we can get so bored with life and the things that are made by human hands but we never tire of seeing another sunset, sunrise, spring, or fall?
I really don’t believe that’s by chance.
Enjoy your Sunday!

Wow, great shots! Lupines in spring are always cool..:-)
WOW I love the one of the child reaching out to touch the flower. great shot.
Beautiful shots, loved the one with your daughter holding them.
Beautiful lupines and the photos of your daughter are precious. Those would make awesome photos cards too, especially the close up of her hands.
Can’t believe you have lupine already, not until June in Montana
Really great pics this week. Colorful and insightful as well. Great job!
WOW! Lupines, something for me to look forward too in a few weeks. Loved the pics of your daughter picking and admiring the flowers.
I love that last shot of the lupine and the profile of your daughter picking them!
They are beautiful! Have you ever heard of this children’s book, about a lupine lady? Here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/Miss-Rumphius-Barbara-Cooney/dp/0670479586
Hope you are having a great weekend!
Great pictures, especially with your daughter.
How true, how true!! Beautiful photos. I’m pretty sure I have never seen lupine. Lovely.
Excellent shots….love the vibrant colours!
Great post! Fantastic photos and story!
I’ve never seen lupins (i don’t think) but I love them.
Beautifully done! I have lupine here too in SE Oregon, but it wasn’t budding quite yet…your daughter is precious!
Beautiful pictures. I love that Annie is color coordinated
I love Lupines, your daughter makes a beautiful assistant..they are all excellent photos!
Those are beautiful! Love their color. My little girl is a picker too. Didn’t spare a single daffodil this year. The crocus in my submission were also in the last moments of life.
You just made me homesick for Trinity County! My parents have lupine growing wild all over the big hill behind their house, and it was always my favorite (at least until the starthistle took over for the hot summers)!
I love the forest shot in the first one. And of course the added feature of your daughter really works.
