Skeet Shooting

One of my most favorite things to do is skeet shoot which involves a shot gun and clay pigeons.  We took some friends out yesterday and all took turns rotating with three shotguns.

As you can see, the view wasn’t all that bad either.

And my little friend Russel will now demonstrate what a clay pigeon is…

What a cute kid.  Hubby’s best friend from way back in elementary school came up with his family of three and wife plus this little guy and his older brother.  I think all these city kids really enjoyed learning about the safety and fun of gun ownership (don’t worry, no shells were left in the making of this fun day… we always clean up after ourselves.)

It was a great time had by all of us and our friends.  Seeing this line up was really cool, I love how the guns are all pointed at the same time.

The object of the game is that the clay pigeon gets thrown via the “flinger” (a very technical term) and it goes flying up in to the air.  The person in the number one position has first dibs, if he misses it the next person goes, then the next… if no one hits the pigeon then they all retain their positions.  If the number two or three person hits the pigeon then the number one moves to the last position and they move up.  It really is a blast (literally) and is excellent for your aim and smooth moves.  Remember, this target is pretty fast moving and can be quite irregular.

Here Hubby is giving Tammy and and her son a lesson in proper pigeon shooting techniques.

Looks like this city girl enjoyed herself!

Love the smoking gun pics… Of course Hubby’s face is always appropriate.  That satisfied just-shot-something-out-of-the-sky look.

Gabe and Tammy’s oldest girl really enjoyed herself too.  I was happy to get some pretty good ones of her!  And she was also able to be proud to knock something out of the sky… (beautiful gun!)

One of my favorite shots of the day!

And my total favorite of the day.  This girl was so photogenic!

And a beautiful drive home… A perfect ending to a great day!
