Our Horses
The Sundance Kid

Sunnie is a kiger mustang gelding sired by the infamous Sundance who is by Steens Kiger and out of Kiger’s Mestena, two of the biggest names in the Kiger breed. Sunnie is a wonderful soul. Gentle, kind, gorgeous in every way, balanced, excellent sire and now excellent saddle horse. He’ll be with me for the remainder of his life.
MRK Annie Oakley
Beautiful in every sense of the word, the first foal born on our ranch, daughter to the best broodmare we’ve ever owned. Annie is what I like to call a “latte” grulla because of her creamy shade. She’s a bit on the hot side, definitely thinks she’s the leader of the herd, (although she’s a bit confused because Sunnie is), and the most spoiled horse on the ranch because of my love for her. Sired by Kiger Dundee and out of Wiley’s Rosabelle.
MRK Caliente Creek
Also known as Cali, she is a red dun in color, sired by Kiger Dundee and out of KMR Calista. A very mellow lady, nothing spooks her, curious, gentle, and an excellent saddle horse. She takes to the trails like she’s been doing it all her life. She gave us a foal in ‘06 who is absolutely gorgeous named Noche Canyon by our boy, Sunnie. Cali will probably be our baby’s horse when she gets old enough to ride because she is so placid and trustworthy.

Of course you have me hooked. I open your blog every morning. Your, (now mine), sweet little Belle, is doing great. She greets me every morning, (for her special cookie). The other horses try to boss her, but she mainly just ignores them. I am glad you are still shedding some light on this special breed. There are times that I wish for the old “Spirit” thing to revive, but I, like you, got sick of the pompous attitudes of some of the Kiger breeders. When I want a real relaxing ride on a great horse, I always choose her over my others. Thanks for making my day.

Beautiful horses, enticing descriptions and fabulous photographs.
Especially love the coloring of Annie Oakley … and Cali sounds like a dream.

Stunning photos, Ms Mudd! I’m jealous. All I get for a background on with my horses is mud. No fair that you’ve got lovely shades of golds and greens…and even real snow! (Never mind that last part…I don’t want real snow!)

Thanks ladies! They’re wonderful “kids” and I enjoy them very much.
DHW — These were taken last summer… we’ve got mud too… lots of it!

Latte Grulla. I wonder if my little Bella is similarly colored. I like that color name since simply grulla isn’t quite right.

Your photography is beautiful, but then so are the subjects! Hard to go wrong when taking photos of Kigers…

Could you please tell me if Etta’s sale doesn’t go through? My heart skipped a beat when I saw her. See, I spent the whole summer with a beautiful Dun mare. Since I was at a Theraputic Riding Center volunteering,it’s hard to tell whether or not they’ll sell their horses or if they’ll use them for the kids to ride. Goldie was an unusual case. She felt crowded and tried to kick the sidewalkers when they the leader cued her to trot. I wanted her more than anything I’d ever wanted. I always have wanted a horse, but as soon as I saw her I knew she was the one. So I spent the summer working with her and loving her to death, all the while receiving that love back. I soon had to come back to Iowa for the school year. In the spring I’m getting a job so I can finally find a horse to have and love as my very own. Just a few weeks ago I heard that Goldie had been given back to her owners that had donated her to the program. I was heart broken and still am. I looked at all the pictures of Etta. She doesn’t look exactly the same as her,but just by looking at her I could see she has a sweet, willing attitude just like Goldie had.No horse will be the same as Goldie…but if there was a mare to love half as sweet and willing as Goldie,I’d work as hard as I can to have her. So please,if the sale doesn’t go through, feel free to e-mail me. Thank You:) ~Abby

Hi there!! say nice horses.. I happen to have a mare that looks like you’re kiger mustangs!!! I was just wondering if you knew a lot about bloodlines, and horses now known to contain the kiger blood line. I acquired a AQHA mare, Renegade Rona who is a red rone but man she looks like a kiger. I have no way of going about to find out if she has the kiger bloodline in her. she has all the visable quilities of a kiger… longer mane, zebra stripes… long hocks. please email me back if you have any information that you thinik might be able to help me!! thanks
